Edinburgh to Salisbury is best done as a weekend trip. Take LNER to London Kings Cross on Friday evening, stay overnight, then continue to Salisbury Saturday morning for the shuttle. This avoids a brutally early departure and gives you time in London too. Advance LNER fares booked 6–8 weeks out can be remarkably cheap.
